Focus Group Meeting for March 25

What is 21st Century Learning? (An example of my PLN)
What does it look like in the classroom?
Why is it important?
How do we get it into our schools, into the hands of our teachers, administrators, and most important, out students.
  • Well equipped teachers and support
  • Expecting product from students.
    • access to technology
      • professional development
      • necessity for using it

Ideas for the focus of our next meeting.

What does 21st Century Learning look like? Let's begin exploring.

Administrators

Administrators should be sharing their ideas with the community through blogging, or some sort of sharing platform.
They should be using some of the tools that students will be expected to use in their future, ie rss, social networking, connected learning,...

Administrators

Mark Prensky's ASCD article, Turning on the Lights, March 2008 - Mark Prensky offers Principles for Principals on how learning should take place in our schools.

Teachers

Teachers need to document the use of technology in the classroom. Compare test scores of those that teach the same content, one with authentic use of technology, one more traditional. Chances are, the test scores will be comparable. However, in one year, the ones that have been engaged in authentic learning opportunities will remember more.
